Molecular Profile

What is this compound?

Lipo-C with B12 is a four-component research solution supplied pre-mixed in a 10 mL vial for in vitro laboratory research use only. Unlike the lyophilized compounds in this catalog it requires no reconstitution. Each component is independently characterized in the peer-reviewed literature: L-methionine as the precursor of S-adenosylmethionine, described in that literature as the principal cellular methyl donor; choline as a methyl-group source feeding the same methionine cycle by way of the folate and choline shuttling pathways; cyanocobalamin as the cofactor for methionine synthase, the enzyme that remethylates homocysteine to methionine; and myo-inositol, the parent cyclitol whose phosphorylated derivatives, the inositol phosphates, are characterized in the cited structural literature as second messengers bound to signaling effector proteins.

Research applications: Commonly used in one-carbon metabolism studies, methyl-donor pathway research, and inositol phosphate structural research applications.
