Molecular Profile

What is this compound?

Ventra GN-1 is human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone supplied as a lyophilized powder for in vitro laboratory research use only. It is assembled from two non-covalently associated subunits: a 92-amino-acid alpha chain common to the glycoprotein hormone family, and a 145-amino-acid beta chain that confers receptor specificity. Both chains are extensively glycosylated, and because that carbohydrate content is heterogeneous, potency is expressed in International Units rather than by mass. It is characterized in the peer-reviewed literature as a ligand of the LH/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR) and is among the most structurally well-resolved glycoprotein hormones, with published crystal and cryo-EM structures.

Research applications: Commonly used in glycoprotein-hormone structural research, LHCGR receptor-signaling studies, and analytical characterization research applications.
